Understanding the Treatment.
About Ondansetron
Ondansetron is a well-established anti-nausea medication (a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist) that blocks signals in the body that trigger nausea and vomiting. At Revibe Health it’s used to help you stay comfortable and consistent while your body adjusts to GLP-1 weight-loss therapy.
Nausea is the most common side effect when starting or increasing a GLP-1 medication. Ondansetron can relieve that nausea so it’s less likely to interrupt your treatment. Your Revibe provider prescribes it as needed to keep you on track.
Ondansetron blocks serotonin (5-HT3) receptors in the gut and brain that play a central role in the nausea and vomiting response, reducing those sensations. It treats the symptom of nausea rather than affecting weight directly.
It’s typically taken as needed around the times nausea tends to occur, per your provider’s instructions. Because it’s supportive care, you use it when symptoms call for it rather than continuously, unless directed otherwise.
No ondansetron doesn’t cause weight loss. Its role is to manage nausea so you can stay consistent with the GLP-1 therapy that’s driving your results. It’s a supportive part of the program, not a weight-loss medication itself.
Safety and Side Effects
The most common side effects are headache, constipation, and fatigue. Most are mild. Let your provider know if side effects are bothersome so your plan can be adjusted.
Ondansetron can, in some people, affect the heart’s electrical timing (QT prolongation), so it requires caution in those with certain heart-rhythm conditions or who take other QT-prolonging medications. This is why it’s prescribed and monitored by a provider who knows your history.
Ondansetron can interact with certain medications, particularly other drugs that affect heart rhythm or serotonin levels. Share your full medication and supplement list so your Revibe Health provider can prescribe it safely.
