Merriam-Webster1 lists two definitions of “dog days.” One is the hot, sultry period between early July and early September. The other is defined as a period of stagnation or inactivity. The former often leads to the latter, right?

A study in 20122 found that employee productivity goes down 20% between June and August. To beat the statistic, here are some simple ideas to help with motivation if you’re feeling the slump:

  1. Get out!
Find some time to recharge your battery. According to a study, 1 in 3 full-time workers in the U.S. leave half or more of their paid-time off days unused every year.3 If you fall into that category, consider taking advantage of your lunch hour. On a warm day, eat outside or simply take a short walk. Avoiding the glare of the computer screen for a few hours will help you feel rejuvenated.
  2. Revitalize your workspace
Get organized. If you’re having a slower day at work, take aim at the visible clutter that can also clutter your mind. Toss, file, clean, repeat. Get rid of the junk!
  3. Make to-do lists
Every morning, write down everything you need and want to accomplish that day. Cross each task out after it is complete. You will be motivated to get more work done and end the day feeling productive and accomplished.
  4. Switch up your routine
Maybe listen to Caribbean calypso music. Drink fruity beverages or try a different flavor of coffee. Take off your shoes at your desk. Anything to break up the everyday routine!

All it takes is a little bit of inspiration and willpower to bring more positive energy into your life! But, if you’re still feeling sluggish, experiencing foggy brain, or simply need an energy boost, you may want to get your testosterone checked. Revibe Men’s Health will be here for you, so what are you waiting for?
